Cold Cause brings together three distinctive musical personalities with strong identities: Luiça on vocals, Bruno on synths and machines, and Mathieu on guitar.
In 2024, they came together for an experimental music project centered on the German artist Joseph Beuys. The performance met with immediate success, revealing a unique alchemy between the three musicians. From this encounter, Cold Cause was born: a powerful musical universe at the crossroads of post-punk, EBM, and sonic experimentation, echoing influences such as Lebanon Hanover, Boy Harsher, DAF, Joy Division, and Kraftwerk.
Luiça, the singer, explores a wide range of registers, cold, dark, and rhythmic, drawing on melancholy and despair, while also finding warmer, more comforting tones. Bruno, on synths, crafts hypnotic and gripping lines, from deep basses to danceable, martial rhythms. Mathieu, on guitar, leads the group into melancholic soundscapes, adding a more dissonant and organic dimension, like a human voice anchoring the whole.
Live, the band delivers a powerful, electric set driven by the singer’s captivating stage presence.
Composed of nine tracks, the album unfolds across several moods: dark, danceable disco with Vampire der Liebe, Dark Madonna, and Road, which carries more melancholic undertones; a post-punk edge with sharp guitars and tense rhythms on City of Firmaments, On the first Page, and Das Gespenst; and more overtly electronic tracks such as Dead Diamond Machine and Red Dust. The album closes with a pocket blues symphony, Drunken Bird.
The lyrics move between wounded loves haunted by monsters, urban drift, and nocturnal lights, within a dark, cinematic atmosphere.
The album will be released late March 2026.
